Can the boss/manager/owner respond to customers? Yes. The boss/manager/owner can respond by text message right from their phone, or from within the website.
Do I have to download anything? Nope! Neither you nor your customers need to download any app, visit any website, or worry about integrating any software. All you have to do is know how to send a text message.
Can more than one boss/manager/owner receive/respond to messages? Indeed! In fact you can add as many staff members on the receiving end as you would like. And each time a staff member responds to a message, the rest of the staff members see that response so that customers aren't flooded with responses.
How many messages should I expect from customers? It's really dependent upon how much feedback you ask for. A lot of signage + front of house employees telling customers about the service = more messages. But overall our customers average 8-16 per week.
How do I know where my customer is sitting if they're anonymous? You don't. Over the last year+ we have been in business, our customers (the business) have very rarely had to actually find where their customer was sitting. Most often issues can be resolved just by being able to communicate. And when the issue does require your face-to-face attention, it's very simple to just ask the customer where they are sitting.
Can I create my own signs? Or do I have to use yours? Please feel free to create your own! In fact, we encourage you to think of cool new ways and new places to display your Alert The Boss phone number. Find a way that fits in with your brand, make it your own.
Do you operate outside the US? Yes, we also serve customers throughout Canada.
When managers go on vacation, how can they keep from getting messages? Each manager can easily turn the service off when they go off-duty, and managers coming on duty will be able to turn it it on for their phone - just with a simple text message.
We have a call canter that will handle these messages. Can we still use your service to offset our costs? You bet. Call center personnel can receive messages by email, or from within the website's message view, and respond using the website's response form. You can limit their access to just these duties.
Can we get messages by email? Yes, boss/managers/owners can receive messages by text, email, or both.
Do I need to be good with technology? Not even a little bit! You just need to be good at owning/running your business. We're not here to throw a bunch of technology at you. We're here to give your customers an easy way to connect with you, even when you're not on the premises, and provide these connections to you in a real-time manner that you can handle and respond to.
Do I need a special phone? No, any cell phone will do. We built our service to work with any phone. It even works with those old "dumb" phones!
Do I have to sign a contract? Nope! You get a 30-day free trial and can cancel at any time. That's right, it's free with no obligation to continue.
What should I put in my auto-reply? Generally this is a really great place to set expectations with your customers. Maybe thank them for sending feedback and tell them within how long you'll be responding. Ex: "Thanks for your feedback. Our management staff will get back to you within the hour." If you're a smaller business, try personalizing it. Ex: "Hi, you've reached AJ the owner. I really appreciate your business & I'll get back to you ASAP."
My managers are busy and may not be able to respond. How do you remedy that? Each location has their own autoreply that customers will receive the rst time they text you. In this autoreply you can set expectations on when you will be able to respond. And because text messages can be read and responded to when you have the time, they won't interrupt management duties.
If we have to let a manager go, how do we remove their access to our customer? It's easy to remove access to outgoing personnel, so they can no longer access your account, text your customers, or receive texts from customers.
Can I have multiple business locations under the same account? Yes. For those businesses fortunate enough to have multiple locations, you may add another location to your account at any time for an additional $30 per month. Each location is given its own Alert The Boss phone number.
Will you spam my customers with text messages? No way. We only send them a nice message the first time they use our service at a new business location to let them know how it works.
What if a customer is sending annoying texts? What about text spam? You can block a customer by sending a special text message. For example, if your customer's number is #14, text "block 14" to your Alert The Boss phone number. You will no longer get messages from that customer.
Do personnel have to respond by text? No. Managers can also respond from the website using our response form. Messages sent this way will be sent as text messages to customers without needing to use a cell phone.
How does this thing work? In short, when you send a text message to a Alert The Boss phone number, your message is forwarded to the managers at the business. They cannot see your phone number, but they have the ability to respond to you by text message. So you might get a response!
Will I get charged for sending a text? Not by us, but your mobile carrier may charge you. It depends on your text messaging plan.

What if I don't want messages from a business anymore? Businesses will only contact you in response to your texts to them. However, if you are unsatisfied with the messages you are getting, you can text "STOP" to the business' Alert The Boss phone number. You won't get any more from them. If they attempt to send you a message, they'll get a response indicating that you have opted out.
Can I opt-out of messages? Yes, you can. In accordance with the Mobile Marketing Association's guidelines on preventing SPAM, we have a way for you to stop the messages from a given business. See "What if I don't want messages from a business anymore?" above.
